‘I had gone for a little wander to Lindley Wood Reservoir in the Washburn Valley, having heard there was a good display of bluebells in the woodland. The bluebells were indeed lovely but what really caught my eye was the wonderfully chaotic assortment of willow trees growing in the water’s edge. I was entranced by the intricate, metamorphic reflections of the branches and twigs – almost like a delicate ink drawing. The trunks acted as the perfect foil.
It was important to ensure good depth of field here, this required a medium aperture of f/7.1, but I also needed to ensure I froze the intricacy of the reflections and so had to raise the ISO to 800 to get a fast shutter speed of 1/200 sec. For reasons I remember not, the title Reservoir Bogs just popped into my head as I returned to the car.’
