‘This picture was created on an organised trip to the Scottish mountains in early 2020. It was very cold and there was plenty of snow around. During winter, mountain hares have a white coat and are less active than in the summer to reserve energy. Following advice from the tour leader, I crawled towards the hare slowly, avoiding any fast movements. When I was close to the animal I could have stayed for hours! This image was made just before he started cleaning himself. It was an amazing experience.’
