Anette says:
‘Birches are my favourite trees to photograph, particularly during the autumn when they are amongst the first trees to change the colour of their leaves to a vivid gold. The bark is equally interesting and worth a closer look as each individual tree has different patterns and colours depending on the species, age and location of the tree.

This photograph was taken in Barnsdale Gardens, Rutland and shows the peeling bark of a highly ornamental birch tree. By taking a double exposure of the details from different angles (with Photosplit) and saturating its yellow colour tones in post production I have emphasised the abstract appearance of this beautiful tree.’
