‘I spend a lot of time searching for new places to take pictures, so when I discovered this site with lots of diablotin (conehead mantis) I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. The diablotin goes through seven metamorphoses before reaching its final adult form. On this occasion I was lucky enough to witness the spectacle of the last stage for this newborn mantis queen. The transformation itself took place the evening before, but when I arrived in the morning the mantis was drying its new wings next to its former skin.’
