Petar says:
‘Little damselflies are common in the area where I live, as there are good natural habitats for them – small ponds, a river and a water canal. When I was taking photos of this damselfly it was a rather cold morning and the low temperature kept it still. There was no wind either, so I was working fast in case it started up. The background colour gave me a nicely balanced image. The texture and shapes of his eyes and head are rich with details and look amazing.

I was using a Laowa 25mm lens at 5:1 magnification, mounted on electronic rails. I fired 148 shots which are stacked into one final image to get the necessary depth of field. Even one slight movement can ruin the entire stack, so I knew I had to make several attempts to be sure at least one will be successful. In the end, I succeeded and was satisfied with final result.’
